KH 1.5 and KH 2.5 could be remastered for PS4 and Xbox One.
[dropcap size=small]S[/dropcap]orry Kingdom Hearts fans, it would seem that Kingdom Hearts III, which had a gameplay/teaser trailer debuted at last year’s E3 conference, isn’t going to be released just yet. However, there is some good news to be had. In an interview with IGN Kingdom Hearts 3‘s co-director Tai Yasue said they have not ruled out the possibility of Kingdom Hearts 1.5 Final Mix and Kingdom Hearts 2.5 Final Mix being remastered for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, “We listen to our fans obviously so we’ll see what they think [about a collection] and we’ll come to a decision on that.”
Of course, just because Kingdom Hearts III isn’t going to be released doesn’t mean that we won’t have another game in the Kingdom Hearts franchise. Instead, it appears that a new game going by the name of Kingdom Hearst 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue will be released so fans of the series are caught up with the events leading up to Kingdom Hearts 3. A trailer for the game can be viewed below.
As of right now, Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue is slated for a PlayStation 4 exclusive release which certainly has many Kingdom Hearts fans who own a Xbox One quite displeased considering Kingdom Hearts III is set up to be released for both Playstation 4 and Xbox One. “Right now we haven’t come to a decision on that,” Yasue elaborated in his interview when asked about the possibility of a cross-console release. “Nothing’s been decided yet.”
So if you’re a fan of Kingdom Hearts and own either a PlayStation 4 and/or a Xbox One, be sure to let Yasue and Square Enix know that you support a cross-console release!
