Ken Jeong very own show is inspired by his time when he was a medical doctor.
[dropcap size=small]C[/dropcap]ommunity may have ended, but that doesn’t mean Ken Jeong is finished. The medical doctor turned actor will be getting his own show called Dr. Ken, which he will star and executive produce for. Nonetheless, the actor is adamant that the show will not primarily focus on himself, that other actors in the show are just as important to the show’s overall plot line. “It’s very important to me to have that truth of all the characters driving all the stories,” Ken Jeong said.
It was at the Television Critics Association Summer Press Tour for the show’s panel that the actor emphasized that Dr. Ken is an ensemble show. Drawing from his experience while working on Community, Ken Jeong knows that a strong cast line up with unique characters is central to making sure that the show is successful. Dr. Ken‘s supporting cast includes Dave Foley, Jonathan Slavin, Tisha Cambell-Martin and Suzy Nakamura, actors that Ken Jeong holds in high esteem.
“I think of this more as an ensemble show. It’s a one-for-all and all-for-one approach. We found the most amazing scene-stealers. That’s kind of how I grew up on ‘Community,’ where it’s all about the ensemble.”
Dr. Ken will premiere on October 2nd, at 8:30/7:30c on ABC.
