Jurassic World took the number one spot in the weekend domestic box office report topping the charts at about $105 million for its second weekend in theaters.

[toggler title=”TL;DR” ]Jurassic World is still topping the box office charts after its second weekend in theaters. This weekend it topped the domestic box office, beating out Disney Pixar’s Inside Out by nearly $20 Million.[/toggler]

In its first weekend, Jurassic World set the record for highest global box office gross with just over $500 million. The film set not only the all-time global box office gross, but also the domestic box office gross record in the US surpassing The Avengers (2012) film. While this is impressive, most movies tend to drop in the rankings come the second weekend. This was not the case for the Jurassic World film.

Although its sales dropped by nearly 50% in the US, it still topped the domestic box office charts beating out the number two spot held by Disney Pixar’s Inside Out, by nearly $20 million in sales. Along with topping the second weekend box office, the film also recently set the record for reaching the global box office $1 billion mark, in just 13 days.

Chris Pratt, the star of the movie, has already revealed that he will be doing another movie in the Jurassic series. In an interview, he stated that they (Universal) have “38 movies or something” in planning, but this is probably a bit of an exaggeration. Box office sales are up nearly 6% from where they were last year according to Time.com, and there are still films like the highly anticipated Star Wars sequel to hit the theaters in the coming months.
