A new set photo confirms the rumored mega-armor.
Filming for Captain America: Civil War has just wrapped, but that hasn’t stopped set photos from leaking left and right, and just recently, a new one featuring Tony Stark has surfaced.
This latest set photo (below) seemingly confirms that Iron Man’s MCU Mark XLVI suit will be based off the ‘Bleeding Edge’ armor from the comics.
First appearing in Invincible Iron Man Vol 1, issue 25, the Bleeding Edge armor is one of Stark’s most advanced suits, as it is comprised of nano-machines that can form into any structure. These nano-machines reside inside Stark’s body, and once summoned, they form into shape around him, thus acting more like second set of muscles rather than a clunky metal suit.
Besides amplifying Stark’s physical strength, his mental capabilities are given a boost too through the suit, as his intelligence is augmented, allowing for “superhuman-level multitasking and learning capabilities.” (More information on the suit is available on its Marvel wiki page.)
While it’s highly doubtful the suit in the film will have all of the abilities of its comic book counterpart, this set photo adds fuel to the speculation fire as to what Tony will be doing in the Bleeding Edge. (My money is on a battle with Red Hulk!)
Captain America: Civil War hits theaters on May 6, 2016.
