A Slight Trick of the Mind makes its way out of the novel and to the big screen in Mr. Holmes, starring Ian McKellen.

Now 93, Sherlock Holmes lives in a remote farmhouse in Sussex with Mrs. Munro, his housekeeper, and her son, Roger. The mind of Mr Holmes slowly begins to chip away at itself as it has been stricken with alzheimer’s. Now, reflecting on his life of success as an incredible detective, Holmes must face his most difficult case yet in his final phases of his life through sharing his experiences with young Roger, who he is developing into a protégé.

Mr. Holmes is based on the book A Slight Trick of the Mind by Mitch Cullin, published in April 2005. Directed by Bill Condon and starring Ian McKellen, Mr. Holmes comes to theaters June 2015 in the UK. The movie has not yet been issued a worldwide release date.
