The former LOTR and Hobbit wizard is dabbling in magic once again. The Actor will play Cogsworth in Disney’s upcoming live-action Beauty and the Beast movie.

[dropcap size=small]W[/dropcap]ith Disney casting their new Beauty and the Beast movie, set to come out in 2017, there are still a few spots to fill. The casting for this movie so far couldn’t feel more right, with Emma Watson as Belle, Dan Stevens as Beast, and Luke Evens as Gaston.

Only one more cog was needed to get this movie going, that’s right Cogsworth. Mr. Ian McKellen will take up the role as the Prince’s butler who is transformed into a clock, and is confirmed by The Hollywood Reporter.

Disney will be taking most of its notes from their 1991 animated classic, and hope that the live-action version can be as successful as the original. With Cogsworth having to no major musical number of his own, McKellen will just have to join in with the rest of the backup singers.

The actor posted a full description of what the first table read was like the other day on Twitter saying at the end “All the long way home, I hummed ‘Be Our Guest,’ in which I shall get to sing a line or two. Aren’t I the lucky one?

Beauty and the Beast staring Sir Ian McKellen, Emma Watson, Luke Evens, and Dan Stevens is set to hit theaters March 17, 2017.
