[dropcap=small]A[/dropcap]t a recent Viacom presentation it was announced that they were working on two TV movies for their network Nickeldeon. Legends of the Hidden Temple, which ran on Nickeldeon in the 1990’s, was announced for a live-action movie and Hey Arnold, which ran on Nickelodeon from 1996-2004, was announced for a two-part animated TV movie. The Legends of the Hidden Temple movie will be based of the show and will include Olmec, the fan favorite talking head. It will be interesting to see how a movie based off a game show will work since there is not really a defined story to go off from. Legends of the Hidden Temple will be directed by Joe Menendez and will be written by Jonny Umansky, Zach Hyatt, and Alex Reid. The Hey Arnold movies will follow the TV show though it is uncertain if it will take place after the original series ended or if it will take place at a time during the series.

This is part of a bigger strategy of bringing back some of the older Nickelodeon shows that had large followings.  Cyma Zarghami, president of Viacom’s cable networks, said that the idea had come from a group of interns that Viacom had a few years ago. Nickelodeon has seen increased viewership in the Teen Nick block of shows at night. The revival of the classic shows has been seen as the cause of the increase.

Legends of the Hidden Temple will debut in late 2016 and Hey Arnold will be released in 2017.
