Poison Ivy? Is that you?!?
Entertainment Weekly has revealed the first image of Elizabeth Banks as the villainous Rita Repulsa for the upcoming Power Rangers reboot film.
Check her out below.
For reference the original Rita Repulsa from the Mighty Morphin TV series looked like this.
Rita is now sporting a pointy green-getup with a reptilian like design. Obviously, she’s missing a pair of white hair-horns, and the more traditional appearance of a sorceress overall, but this new incarnation of Rita is purposely sleek and modern looking.
“It’s definitely a modern and edgy re-imagining of the original Rita Repulsa,” explained Banks to PEOPLE. “We wanted to give her a backstory that connects her to the new Rangers.”
What this backstory or connection to the Rangers exactly is remains to be seen, but we have faith that Banks is able to deliver a menacing and fun take on Rita Repulsa.
The reboot also stars Becky G as the Yellow Ranger, R.J. Cyler as the Blue Ranger, Ludi Lin as the Black Ranger, Dacre Montgomery as the Red Ranger, and Naomi Scott as the Pink Ranger, and David Denman as the Red Ranger’s father. Dean Israelite (Project Almanac) is directing.
Saban’s Power Rangers mighty morphs into theaters on March 24, 2017.
