This just got a whole lot more interesting.
The latest DLC characters to join the Injustice 2 roster were revealed via a new trailer. These characters, releasing in the DLC bundle ‘Fighter Pack 2,’ includes Raiden from Mortal Kombat, Aquaman’s arch-nemesis Black Manta, and Hellboy.
Wait.
HELLBOY?!?
That’s right, the half-demon, paranormal investigator will be a playable character in Injustice 2.
Besides being a badass and cult-favorite comic character, Hellboy’s appearance is very significant as he is not a DC Comics hero, which make up the rest of the Injustice roster (minus the Mortal Kombat characters). He’s from Dark Horse Comics, the publisher behind titles like Sin City and 300.
Clearly some sort of special deal allowed for Hellboy to be in Injustice 2, and we couldn’t be happier. Although he’s not based on Ron Perlman’s version of the character from the live-action Guillermo del Toro films (and clearly not voiced by him), he is sporting his iconic Mike Mignola design straight from the comics.
Does this open the door for other unconventional comic characters to appear in Injustice 2? Like Rorschach from Watchmen? Marv from Sin City? Spawn? Judge Dredd? The Tick? POPEYE!?!
We’ll have to wait and see. #popeyeinjustice2
Fighter Pack 2 goes on sale on September 12. Black Manta will be available first, with Raiden and Hellboy following at yet to be revealed dates.
