Alden Ehrenreich is set to be the scruffy-looking Nerfherder!

[dropcap size=small]T[/dropcap]he Han Solo Spin-off film has finally gotten its leading man. Hail Caeser! star Alden Ehrenreich has landed the coveted role, which is expected to follow Solo’s adventures prior to the events of A New Hope

A source reported to Page Six (via eonline) with the news, which has since been confirmed from many other sources reporting Ehrenreich has offically sealed the deal with Disney:

“Alden really impressed Disney and Lucasfilm execs with his screen test..the deal is basically done.”

Ehrenriech has been the front runner for the role for some time, beating out fellow contenders Taron Egreton, Miles Teller and Dave Franco.

The standalone Solo film’s title is said to be in-keeping with the other future spin-off releases fleshing out the expanded Star Wars cinematic ‘verse, such as Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, with reports suggesting it will be titled Han Solo: A Star Wars Story.

Phil Lord and Christopher Miller are directing the project, which is offcially in pre-production, and now they finally have their Solo, it looks like the duo are truly ready to roll up their sleeves and get stuck into bringing the loveable rogue’s origin story to the big screen.

Miller even recently tweeted the below snap of Solo’s signature blaster gun to get fans truly salivating.

Now that Solo has been cast, the film has overcome one of its biggest hurdles in properly getting into gear. Now they just have to deliver the Solo goods. Will Ehrenreich shoot first? We’ll just have to wait and see.

The Han Solo Spin-off film is slated for release 25 May, 2018.
