James Gun answered some fan mail on Twitter and revealed that Guardians of the Galaxy 2 will be filming in Atlanta in early 2016.
With all the superhero talk about Avengers: Age of Ultron, some people might have forgotten about a little movie called Guardian of the Galaxy? The success of the oddball space fantasy was a big risk that paid off for the studios. The filming of the next installment of the rag-tag group of outcasts was announced on Twitter along with the Location of the filming.
After filming the first Guardians and Avengers: Age of Ultron in London, Pinewood Studios in Atlanta is the new home-base for Marvel Studios. Ant-Man, the upcoming Captain America: Civil War, and now Guardians of the Galaxy 2 will be filmed at Pinewood Studios. Gunn also says a screenplay is already underway.
Not much is known about the plot of Guardians of the Galaxy 2 right now, but actors Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Bradley Cooper, Vin Diesel, and Dave Bautista will reprise their roles. The film opens on May 5, 2017.
