In brightest day, in blackest night, Green Lantern won’t be a part of this fight….?
As it turns out Green Lantern may not join up with the Justice League, well not right away at least. With a Green Lantern Corps. movie planned for 2020, fans may be three or four years away from getting their Green Lantern fix.
Charles Roven, the producer of Justice League and Batman v Superman, revealed that the earliest Green Lantern will return to cinema is Justice League: Part 2. But that doesn’t sound very promising.
“Every beat of the movie is not yet worked out. So there’s the possibility that he may or may not be in Justice League 2. For now, we felt that we were introducing enough characters that the best possible place we could put Green Lantern is some introduction in Justice League 2, or barring that, a movie after.”
After the failure of the previous Green Lantern movie it seems that Warner Bros. is hesitant to bring this character back into their universe, planning to take their time and figure out how to give this character a second chance. President of creative development and worldwide productions for Warner Bros., Greg Silverman gave some reasoning behind these choices.
“There’s real opportunity there. We didn’t do a great job on that first Green Lantern movie. This is a character who deserves to be treated in the same way that Batman and Superman and Wonder Woman are being treated now, which is with great reverence. I guess I can say to the Green Lantern fans: if they can be patient with us, I think they’ll be really happy.”
With Batman v Superman coming out later this month, and Justice League: Part One to start filming in April, there will be plenty of content to keep DC fans occupied until Green Lantern will triumphantly return to the big screen.
