Earlier this week, rumors have begun to circle about three classic GTA titles making their way to new platforms in the form of freshly polished remasters. Although the story can’t be substantiated at this time, as Rockstar has neither confirmed the news that GTA III, Vice City, and San Andreas are returning in new forms, we have to assume the news will be confirmed or debunked rather quickly as the reports are spreading like wildfire.
For all we know, it seems that these three Grand Theft Auto games are going to be made available to stream on Google Stadia in the form of these alleged remasters while also coming to last-gen (PS4, XBO), and current-gen (PS5 XBSX), as well as PC and even mobile devices.
The news first came from a report by Kotaku, which contained some curious insight on Rockstar’s plans for the remasters. Quotes like “a mix of new and old graphics” and being similar to that of a “heavily-modded version of a classic GTA title” make us truly wonder just what this game will look like. As modders and mod installers know, sometimes the mods aren’t exactly the cleanest look and aren’t polished on a more professional level so hopefully, Rockstar takes extra care to make sure these games visually represent their skills and not that of a talented and lone modder (no offense to modders, game development is undoubtedly difficult).
According to Kotaku, Rockstar’s Scottish studio ‘Rockstar Dundee‘ is overseeing the development of these games although there has been no proposed or suggested release date.
