[dropcap size=small]A[/dropcap]ccording to a new report from Official Playstation Magazine, the next-gen re-release of Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto V is getting a wide-range of graphical upgrades.
While Rockstar has not officially discussed the specifications for the game’s jump to the next-gen consoles, the publication makes some confident claims about the resolution upgrade. They write:
[dropcap size=small]“[/dropcap]Glimmering 1080p presentation, hugely increased draw distance, 100 new songs, fresh wild-life, a bumper version of GTA Online, this is sandbox you’ve dreamt about ever since you slotted Sony’s angular baby under your TV.”
It’s nice to hear that Rockstar isn’t going for a money grab by re-releasing the same exact game for a more capable console, and that some time, effort, and T.L.C were put into making the game an even more stunning experience than ever before. The magazine goes on to add:
[dropcap size=small]“[/dropcap]Farewell 720p. You served your purpose adequately enough. Still, our eyes have been gagging for 1080p’s pin-sharp pleasures and the Los Santos sandbox is only too happy to oblige on PS4, running at a native 1920×1080 pixels.”
The author goes on to descry how texture assets have been reworked across the entire game, and how billboards in the distance now “pop with clarity.”
Rockstar has stated that the next-gen editions of the game benefit from a number of technical improvements, such as more vivid detail and longer draw distances. They’ve also added a number of additional features for both the next-gen consoles and PC versions. The additions include: new weapons, vehicles, and activities; additional wildlife; denser traffic; new foliage system; and enhanced damage and weather effects.
Also, as previously speculated, GTA V‘s in-game radio stations will feature more than 100 new songs and DJ mixes.
Gamers who pre-order the next-gen and PC versions will also be receiving $1,000,000 in-game cash to spend across the single-player story and Grand Theft Auto Online.
Both Playstation 4 and Xbox One versions of the game will also see an increase in the GTA Online player count. Now, 30 players will be allowed in the online game sessions. In addition, all existing gameplay upgrades and content released on GTA Online will also be available on the next-gen and PC editions, with Rockstar pledging “much more to come.”
GTA V is scheduled for a November 18 release for PS4 and Xbox One, and January 27 for the PC.
