The throwback video game is currently more popular than #throwbackthursday.

Current research claims that users spend more time on Pokemon Go than many other popular apps. By saying that users are addicted to the game would simply be an understatement at this point. Statistics currently show that Pokemon Go is not only a wildly popular app with over 7.5 million downloads in US, but it is currently the app with one of the longest usage time per user.

On average, reports say that Pokemon Go users spend 43 minutes a day on the augmented reality app. The next highest trafficked app was the messaging application, “WhatsApp” where users spent around 30 minutes a day using. The more shocking applications that Pokemon Go has surpassed in time spent were Instagram (25 minutes), Snapchat (23 minutes), and Facebook (22 minutes). I know in my case that I spent at least 2 hours catching Pokemon yesterday…

Simply this means that users really want to catch ’em all.

Not convinced?

The app currently tops the free app list in the iOS app store in the US, New Zealand, and Australia, and is downloaded on over 5% of all Android smartphones. That’s more than Tinder, which sits at a little over 3% of Android smartphone downloads. Nintendo stocks rose around 25% on Monday and another 13% today. Reports yesterday claimed that this added around $7.5 Billion to Nintendo’s market value (from Monday’s numbers alone). It’s still under speculation if this will be a major gain for Nintendo. The game only continues to get more popular, and with Nintendo’s home country of Japan still awaiting release, it’s sure to see continuing success.
