From the arcade to the console, Pac-Man is making a return to the PC, PS4, and the Xbox One.
It’s been nearly 40 years since the original release of Pac-Man in 1980 when the simple scrolling arcade game became a phenomenon for all 70’s and 80’s kids around the world. These gamers rejoiced in 2007 when ‘Pac-Man: Championship Edition’ was released to the Xbox Arcade, where it had much gained popularity among old-school gamers, especially in Japan. However, other than this arcade re-release, Pac-Man enthusiasts are stuck dropping their quarters into actual arcade machines whenever they want to indulge in some dot-chomping action. Be that as it may, it’s time to start saving up those quarters to buy yourself the upcoming release of ‘Pac-Man:Championship Edition 2’. Bandai Namco announced earlier this week that they will be bringing back the little yellow guy to the PC, PS4, and Xbox One.

The game is an updated version of the original arcade legend displaying a variety of 3-D neon levels featuring our favorite ghosts, fruits, and more. Watching the gameplay video, the new installment will challenge old-timers and millennials as they maneuver their way through the variety of mazes that combine the challenges of the old game as well as some newly added gameplay obstacles as well. The game looks to follow a similar model as the original ‘Championship Edition’ pitting users up against the clock. Players will look to have a designated amount of time to eat up all the little dots while still being chased by the famous ghost crew.
New features that are known at the moment are various gameplay add-ons that include: teleporters, tilting of the mazes, and giant ghosts concealed behind the map suggesting implementation of boss battles. Other features that weren’t in the original Pac-Man but have been seen in recent additions are usable bombs players can use to stun ghosts and the favorite sleeping ghost addition that allows players to rack up combos when they swallow up the power pellets.
