New Suicide Squad trailer gives a preview of Harley Quinn, the Joker, and other super villains in the upcoming Warner Bros. film.
After images and scenes started to get leaked after a Comic Con press conference on Saturday, David Ayer finally just threw in the towel and released the preview footage for the upcoming film Suicide Squad. Based on the comic book series, it features villains playing antiheroes for the government to complete high risk missions. Seems like a great idea until you release the likes of the Joker and Harley Quinn onto the streets without too much supervision.
David Ayer is known for his darker directing style, and the exciting yet eerie trailer displays his talents. Margot Robbie and Jared Leto play Harley Quinn and the Joker, and just from the trailer, their ability to fill the dark and sinister roles of the two characters is very evident. At the end of the trailer, viewers hear the Joker saying, “Oh, I’m not gonna kill you. I’m just gonna hurt you really, really badly,” as the black screen then cuts to a close-up of the terrifying Joker played by Jared Leto.
The film is supposed to be the second half of Warner Bros. and DC’s packed 2016 year, following Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice which premiers in March of 2016. The characters in the film are not as well known as the likes of Batman and Superman, so comic book fans can probably expect more leaked footage aimed at viewers who might not understand the premise of the movie. The film is set to release August 16th, 2016 and looks like a must-see.
