Tododile? Cindaquil? Chikorita? The next generation has made it’s way in time for the holidays!
[dropcap size=small]E[/dropcap]veryone that has played Pokemon GO since it came out in early June have most likely caught a good amount of the original 150 Pokemon in the first generation. So it comes to no surprise that the second generation would be in line to be released sometime before the end of the year. But just recently, there has been new information that the release of Gen. 2 Pokemon is on the way!
v0.45.0 confirmed with a code that Ditto and 100 new Pokemon have been added to Pokemon GO. Check out the details below!
1. ONE NEW MOVE HAS BEEN ADDED TO THE GAME: TRANSFORM
- It is a quick move (as opposed to a charge/special move).
TRANSFORMnow appears both in the GAME_MASTER file with its own animation sequence (as all moves have) and the APK code itself, as the only new move addition yet since the game launched.
2. 100 NEW POKEMON ARE NOW REFERENCED IN THE GAME’S CODE
- Pokedex #152 (Chikorita) to #251 (Celebi)
- Moveset data has not appeared for the 100 new species, and a client-side update (e.g. v0.45.1) will be required for them to begin appearing in-game
3. 52 NEW POKEMON FAMILIES NOW APPEAR
- Again from Chikorita to Celebi
- Includes Ho-Oh and Lugia, etc.
4. NEW SPONSOR: GLOBE NOW APPEARS
- (This may have been added in v0.43.4, but either way was previously announced and discussed on the Road)
5. THE LOCKOUT SYSTEM
- A bunch of new code for the anti-gym-sniping (lockout) system has appeared.
- It appears to function just as described, with a new error message if you are locked out, an ‘ending millisecond’ timer for deploy lockouts, etc.
6. THE QUEST SYSTEM
- Daily quest code, including daily bonuses and a weekly bonus according to a multiplier have now appeared
7. THE ‘CONDOLENCE’ RIBBON
- (This also went live in the previous version, but we wanted to catalog it here for historical reasons.)
- Used when Niantic placed a black condolence ribbon on Thai players at the passing of the King.
With Ditto now in the game, many would think that his only movie will be Transform, which allows him to mimic the Pokemon in front of him and not only copy the other Pokemon’s identity, but also it’s move set. But, the GAME_MASTER file on Ditto actually only knows Struggle as his lone move. So what will most likely happen is Ditto will automatically transform every time he goes into combat, according to his APK (Android Application Package.)
As far as what we know about the Gen. 2 Pokemon, there are no movesets currently distributed to the Pokemon or put in code yet. So we may not see any Totodiles, Cyndaquils or Chikoritas for a few weeks or even months. This means that there will need to be a server-side update before the next 100 Pokemon will be able to be released. So catch all the Pokemon you can from the first generation before Niantic comes out with the next generation.
