Rebuilding this will top off anything that has been made in Minecraft so far!
[dropcap size=small]M[/dropcap]any creative players have polished off their skills by recreating iconic places in Minecraft, such as Pallet Town from Pokemon, Minas Tirith from The Lord of the Rings, King’s Landing in Game of Thrones, and A Song of Fire and Ice from the Game of Thrones intro scene. The amount of things that can be created in Minecraft seem endless. But this next project looks to be bigger than any of the above projects.
Fans and players of Rockstar’s GTA V (Grand Theft Auto 5) are working on recreating the entire map of the game. This isn’t just the city of Santos we are talking about. The Mountains of Blaine County are also included. The project started over a year ago, but project leader and Youtuber “N11ck.”
N11ck posted a video of the progress on the GTA 5 map and it looks amazing.
There has been a lot of progress made since the project started on January 15, 2015. The video above is part of a series created by N11ck to show all the progress that the project is going through. This video is the 175th episode of the series. The project plan is to include everything, including the tall skyscrapers and mountains.
N11ck has said that he will post videos of the progress made on the project or you can even join the server to see everything that has been made yourself. Rural areas, underwater areas and northern parts of the map have yet to be completed, so there’s still a lot of work to be done on this, despite everything that is complete so far. According to Geek, when the project is finished, it will be a staggering 7,500 blocks by 7,500 blocks. Below is a cinematic video of progress of GTA 5’s Downtown section.
The best part about all of this is despite how big the project is, all the contributors are doing this for free. They just want to see this project turn out to be the best recreation on Minecraft. Reported by The Inquisitr, Minecraft creator Markus “Notch” Persson was able to sell the game to Microsoft for $2.5 billion last year thanks to the stunning popularity of the creative building franchise The Inquisitr also covered the story of YouTube personality Jordan “CaptainSparklez” Maron, who was able to purchase a $4.5 million home in Hollywood just from his video earnings from playing Minecraft.
CinemaBlend wrote an article, sharing their opinion on all the contributors to the project and how what the Minecraft author built “look like a toothpick shanty by comparison.”
“Impressive, sure, but I’m more curious to find out where these people find all of their free time. I can’t imagine how long it must have taken to get all of this put together, even if you are working with a bunch of friends.”
Screenrant also commented on the amount of time that contributors have had to work on this project.
“Of course, there are probably those who think it’s silly to put this much work into a map for Minecraft. N11cK and his cohorts don’t seem to have many detractors, though; looking through the comments of his videos mostly just shows people who are excited about the project and want to tell him and the team what a great job they’re doing.”
Other Minecraft projects that are complete include Star Trek’s Enterprise, the Titanic, and (currently) landscaping all the parts of Middle-Earth from The Lord of the Rings.
There’s no timeframe for when N11ck’s project will be complete. If you wish to witness the progress yourself or even help build GTA 5 on Minecraft, the address is at N11ck.net.
