[dropcap size=small]S[/dropcap]he already has conquered the hearts and minds of Game of Thrones fans everywhere and she will undoubtedly do the same for fans of Star Wars. The talented actress Emilia Clarke has been selected to star alongside Alden Ehrenreich and Donald Glover in the currently untitled Star Wars Han Solo Spinoff film. Although there has been no announcement regarding what character she will be portraying, the British actress surely is a welcome addition to the film.
Emilia Clarke went through several intense and strenuous testing sessions before winning the untitled role. Other well-known actresses like Tessa Thompson (Selma, Creed), Naomi Scott (Power Rangers), Adria Arjona (Emerald City), and fellow Game of Thrones actress Jessica Henwick all tried out for the female lead but ultimately lost. Another group of actresses was tested back in September but directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller decided to do one more round after struggling to make a decision.
Due to the seventh season of Game of Thrones having a shorter episode count, it is believed there will be no scheduling conflicts for Emilia Clarke. Now that casting for the film has been completed production for the film will begin this coming January and the film is set to hit theaters on May 25, 2018.
