“I’ll be back” is something you won’t be hearing Emilia Clarke say about the next Terminator film.
[dropcap size=small]T[/dropcap]he hype for Terminator: Genisys was pretty big when the trailers for the sci-fi action thriller first came out, especially because Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke appeared to be one of the central characters in the first of what many assumed films in the next Terminator franchise. Unfortunately, Terminator: Genisys didn’t do that well at the U.S. box office and while she hasn’t said this is her main reason for leaving, it would appear that Emilia Clarke has other more appealing roles coming up.
“No,” said actress Emilia Clarke when asked by Comingsoon.net if she would appear in future Terminator films. “Can I say that? It’s okay. No. Uh-uh. But I have some very different roles coming up. I read the book (Me Before You) and it was just the most beautiful thing I had ever read. I was shooting ‘Terminator’ at the time and had a rocket launcher in my hand while crying like a little girl. I felt like the author, Jojo Moyes, had found a part of me and just wrote it down. I knew that I just had to play the role.”
Despite Emilia Clarke saying that she would not return for another Terminator movie, no one is sure what Skydance plans on doing next for the franchise. The chief creative officer of Skydance, Dana Goldberg, said that the franchise would be “readjusting” it’s plans for more Terminator sequels, whatever that means.
Even though it is sad to hear that Emilia Clarke won’t be appearing in future Terminator films we will at least see her reprise her role as Khaleesi in Game of Thrones, which starts up again this coming Sunday, and in her next film Me Before You, which opens up in theaters on June 3rd.
