The King of Pride Rock returns.

Disney’s upcoming remake/reimaging of The Lion King has found its lead roles/lead lions.

Director Jon Favreau revealed via Twitter that Donald Glover has been cast as Simba, and James Earl Jones will once again voice Mufasa.

Donald Glover is best known as the rapper Childish Gambino, as well as his role as Troy Barnes on Community. He has also been recently cast as a young Lando Calrissian for the incoming Han Solo Star Wars anthology film.

James Earl Jones is a veteran actor of the screen and stage, best known for his deep, powerful voice used to bring Darth Vader and Mufasa to life.

We still don’t know what exactly the The Lion King remake is going to be, presumably a near-total CGI animated film akin to last year’s The Jungle Book, but we do know Jeff Nathanson is currently working on the script.

We also know that Donald Glover is amazing, and can’t think of anyone else to voice Mufasa besides James Earl Jones, so yeah, I think I’m actually excited for this now.

Maybe.

NAAAAA ZVEGNAAAAAAA!!
