The future of Doctor Who lies in Chris Chibnall’s hands now.
[dropcap size=small]I[/dropcap]t appears that one of the greatest showrunners to have ever been in control of the Doctor and his adventures is finally stepping down after six years. Steven Moffat was surprisingly happy when he announced the news. “At the start of season eleven, Chris Chibnall will become the new showrunner of Doctor Who. And I will be thrown in a skip,” stated Steven Moffat.
With Steven Moffat leaving Doctor Who, BBC had some pretty big shoes to fill. Luckily, BBC has chosen Broadchurch‘s creator and showrunner Chris Chibnall to take the reigns from Steven Moffat. Chris Chibnall is no stranger to writing episodes for the madman in a blue box, he has written a total of five episodes for Doctor Who in the past, starting with Russel T. Davies’ reign back in 2007 with his episode called 42.
In addition, to the sad news of Steven Moffat leaving Doctor Who it appears that Whovians will have to wait until Spring of 2017 for the next new season of Doctor Who. If you’re worried that the last season of Doctor Who under Steven Moffat will be lacking in spunk and adventure don’t worry! Chris Chibnall has strongly stressed that Steven Moffat’s last season could very well be his best. In the wise words of the Doctor, all good things must eventually come to an end.
Doctor Who returns in the spring of 2017.
