Netflix gives us a look into the future and it works
[dropcap size=small]C[/dropcap]hief Content Officer for Netflix: Ted Sarandos posted a letter on the company’s blog. Sarandos explained that Netflix viewership raises by 20% on memorial day weekend and because of that Adam Sandler’s new movie will premier this Friday on the streaming service. Netflix usually updates its movie catalog around this time of year and Sarandos took the liberty of giving us a list of movies we can expect to be available for streaming this summer, along with the list is a preview of what Netflix has in store for the summer.
The most important news however, is revealed at the end of the blog post which states the following:
“From September onward, Netflix will become the exclusive US pay TV home of the latest films from Disney, Marvel, Lucasfilm and Pixar. And we’re excited to be bringing you new and exclusive Netflix Original movies including Mascots from the master of low-key comedy Christopher Guest (Waiting for Guffman, Best in Show, A Mighty Wind) and War Machine, from acclaimed Australian director David Michod and starring Brad Pitt, in the serio-comic tale of the U.S. military adventure in Afghanistan.”
This could mean so many things for Netflix. It’s obvious that this deal costed them a lot of money and Netflix has stated in the past that they might one day have nothing but exclusives available for streaming.
If you have any shows that need watching, doing so before September might be a smart idea.
What do you think of the deal? Let us know in the comments!
