Who is this mysterious cape-wearing fiend?
Rogue One, the first Star Wars Anthology film, is currently deep into production, meaning we haven’t seen/ heard much about the specific plot and characters of the film.
However, this hasn’t stopped a number of rumors from swirling around the web, including recent details about one of the film’s supposed villains.
Making Star Wars reports that one of the film’s villain’s will be a significant figure in the Galactic Empire, draped in a “huge majestic white cape.” Apparently, this character will have an awesome name, and will carry a “badass” weapon.”
The news source doesn’t believe this character will be played by Mads Mikkelsen (also rumored to be playing a villain), rather, this character most likely is portrayed by Ben Mendelshon (Bloodlines).
Ben Mendelshon, as he appears in Killing Them Softly.
As we know the film will deal with a band of Rebels stealing the Death Star plans, a number of Imperial villains are to be expected.
We’ve already seen many rumors claiming Darth Vader will appear in the film, as well as Grand Moff Tarkin, digitally recreated with Peter Cushing’s likeness.
However, the description of this villain doesn’t really match any existing Star Wars character, so perhaps this cape and weapon-touting foe will be wholly original.
Remember, nothing has yet to be officially confirmed by Disney and Lucasfilm, so take all of this with a grain of salt.
While we still don’t know much, we don know the film stars Felicity Jones, Riz Ahmed, Diego Luna, Ben Mendelsohn, Forest Whitaker, Alan Tudyk, and Mads Mikkelsen, and is directed by Gareth Edwards.
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story hits theaters on December 16.
