F*ck yeah!
With the recent news regarding Disney’s acquisition of Twentieth Century Fox and Marvel now reacquiring all of its titles (X-Men, Fantastic 4, etc), many fans of Deadpool were worried that the upcoming sequel to the first film wouldn’t be released with an R-rating. But don’t worry Marvel fans, your favorite Merc with a Mouth is going to keep his R-Rating for his upcoming film, Deadpool 2, which is going to be released in theaters on May 18.
It is thanks in part to the success of Deadpool that Disney won’t be stepping in to change the rating of the second film. Bob Iger, the CEO of Disney, recently spoke in a phone call with investors stating:
“(Deadpool) clearly has been and will be Marvel branded. But we think there might be an opportunity for a Marvel-R brand for something like Deadpool. As long as we let the audiences know what’s coming, we think we can manage that fine.”
After all, everything in Hollywood revolves around the making of money so why would Disney want to ruin a good thing?
