Originally planned to be a PlayStation 2 exclusive game, the project was shelved after Marvel revoked the Daredevil license.
[dropcap size=small]H[/dropcap]ave you ever finished watching an episode of Marvel’s Daredevil and wished that you could turn on your Xbox/PlayStation before jumping into the world of Daredevil? You’re definitely not alone in that feeling and according to Unseen 64, a site that is dedicated to covering cancelled video game projects, was incredibly close to finishing its developing cycle. Watch Unseen64’s video below!
The unfinished Daredevil game uncovered by Unseen 64 was titled Daredevil: The Man Without Fear and was being developed by the studio 5000ft Inc. before being shelved. 5000ft Inc. is a studio that has a history of developing browser-based poker games. 5000ft Inc. acquired the Daredevil license from Marvel for an untold amount and began working on developing the game exclusively for PlayStation 2.
Unfortunately, news broke that an open world video game like that akin to the Spider-Man games was in development and 5000ft Inc. was forced to drop its promise to release the game exclusively for PlayStation 2 and dedicate time and resources to expanding the game’s availability for PlayStation 2, Xbox 360, and PC. This additional work and pressure became too much for 5000ft Inc. and Marvel eventually revoked the Daredevil license.
With Netflix’s Marvel’s Daredevil being catapulted to stardom for its excellent casting, story, and acting Daredevil has become one of the most popular Marvel superheroes. That being said, hopefully, there is a Daredevil open world video game in development just like the recent Spider-Man game was unveiled at this year’s E3. We can only hope that a studio dares to bring Hell’s Kitchen’s neighborly vigilante to life.
