The Arrowverse is about to see one of the greatest events of all of television in the upcoming Crisis on Infinite Earths. This miniseries is so colossal that it will involve not just every single major character from shows like The Flash, Supergirl, Arrow, Batwoman, and The Legends of Tomorrow, but it will be tapping into various universes to bring back some of your most beloved DC heroes and characters from entirely different eras and franchises.
Actors like Tom Welling (Smallville) and Kevin Conroy (Batman: The Animated Series) will be joining Crisis on Infinite Earths as Superman and Batman, respectively. And currently, the amount of characters and actors returning to the DC universe for one last appearance is beyond staggering. Here is who we know for sure is appearing, but by no means does this list include everyone as the CW and DC/WB will likely keep a lot of surprises to themselves until the six-part event debuts this December.
______________
SMALLVILLE – CW TV SERIES
- Tom Welling: Clark Kent / Superman
- Erica Durance: Lois Lane
Tom Welling and Erica Durance will be reprising their roles from the beloved Smallville series as older versions of their original characters. Welling is one of a handful of Supermen appearing in the Crisis event. Although we do not know how big a role either are playing, we do know for a fact that the CW’s Crisis on Infinite Earth’s televised event was originally planned with Tom Welling in mind to return as Clark.
______________
SUPERMAN RETURNS – 2006 FILM
- Brandon Routh: Clark Kent / Superman
The 2006 film starring Brand Routh as Superman did not do all that well with audiences. Initially part of a planned franchise, this single film is as far as it went. From there, Routh hasn’t had much of an acclaimed career in film, but rather a somewhat successful presence in televisions shows, particularly as another DC hero, Ray Palmer in the CW’s The Legends of Tomorrow. Although not confirmed, it is suspected that Routh will portray Palmer in addition to his role as Superman, which will likely be a sort of on-the-nose joke among other core members of the Arrowverse, to which Ray Palmer frequently assists.
______________
SUPERGIRL – CW TV SERIES (Arrowverse)
- Tyler Hoechlin: Clark Kent / Superman
- Bitsie Tulloch: Lois Lane
Supergirl is a show that is more about Superman’s cousin rather than the Man of Steel himself, however, he is in that show as a supporting character. Hoechlin will appear as Clark Kent/Superman, one of a few, in the event along with costar Bitsie Tulloch as another Lois Lane, respectively.
______________
THE FLASH – 90’s CBS TV SERIES (Arrowverse)
- John Wesley Shipp: The Flash / Jay Garrick
First appearing as The Flash in the 90’s TV series on CBS, John Wesley Shipp later appeared in CW’s The Flash as Barry Allen’s father, and later the Flash of another universe. It is likely that Shipp will reprise his role as The Flash, specifically as Jay Garrick.
______________
BATMAN AND ROBIN
- Kevin Conroy: Bruce Wayne / Batman
- Burt Ward: Dick Grayson / Robin
Kevin Conroy isn’t exactly known for portraying a live-action version of Batman, but rather the voice of the character from Batman: The Animated Series and the many tie-in and spin-off media (such as the Arkham Games from Rocksteady). While most fans will recognize his voice immediately, Conroy will be portraying an elderly Bruce Wayne/Batman in this Crisis event. Joining him is Burt Ward, who portrayed Robin in the original live-action Batman series opposite Adam West. Ward is said to be playing an elderly Dick Grayson.
______________
BIRDS OF PREY
Ashley Scott: Helena Kyle / Huntress
Before the CW cultivated their very successful Arrowverse and all of the tie-in shows, there was a Birds of Prey series that debuted with thirteen episodes. Ashely Scott portrayed Helena Kyle, the daughter of Batman and Catwoman, in a Batman-abandoned Gotham City. You would also recognize Helena Kyle as Huntress, the main character from that series.
______________
This list consists of special guest stars, as we suspect all the core characters from the Arrowverse will appear, in case you were wondering why they were not listed. They are all sort of a given, but who knows just who shows up to help save the day?
There will likely be more than just the above, as there is no way CW and DC would be willing to reveal all of their tricks and surprises before the debut. However, this list is astonishing and we can’t wait to see all these characters return to help save the multi-verse.
