According to a FAQ post, The Mega Drive will have composite video and RCA-type cables. The consoles output image will have a 320×240 pixel image at a 4:3 ratio aspect and includes stereo sound. The difference with this compared to the original SEGA Genesis is this will also include an integrated power supply and a headphone jack. The system will come in a replica box and includes one controller. You can pre-order additional controllers here.
Any devices that were compatible with SEGA Genesis should also be compatible with The Mega Drive. The only accessories from Sega that won’t be compatible are the Sega CD and Game Genie.
The one missing part that would make this a no-brainer to buy is an HDMI port. Polygon did a preview on the At-Games version of the Sega Genesis and that didn’t have an HDMI port either.
Tectoy added that the TV market in Brazil is to blame for the HDMI port being left out.
“The vast majority of TVs on sale in the Brazilian market have composite video input (RCA), compatible with the output of Mega Drive,” Tectoy writes. “Adding the HDMI output to the console would raise the final price of the product to the consumer without increasing the original resolution.”
The total price for this system is 399 Brazilian real or $123 in USA currency. There will not be international shipping for this product at this time.
