A new Attraction Flow attack and HD character models have been revealed.
Earlier this week during the D23 Expo in Japan, lucky fans who attended the Kingdom Hearts Premium Theater Event were treated to new trailers that showcased the highly anticipated Kingdom Hearts 3, and the recently announced Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue.
While these trailers, despite fan outcry, have yet to be released online, three screenshots of the games have been officially released to the public.
The first screenshot is from Kingdom Hearts 3, and features a new Attraction Flow attack, which are special “summon” like moves based on Disneyland attractions. Said attack appears to be based off of Buzz Lightyear Astro Blaster, a popular shooting gallery ride that is in almost every Disney Park.
Sora, Donald, and Goofy will hop on the ride, and blast Heartless away. Does this attraction confirm a Toy Story world? Maybe, but we sure hope so.
The second screenshot is from HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue, and more specifically, Dream Drop Distance HD, a remastering of the title that was previously only available on the Nintendo 3DS.
This screenshot features almost every protagonist from the series, including, Sora, Donald, Goofy, Kairi, Riku, Roxas, Xion, Terra, Ven, Aqua, and King Mickey, ready to fight.
As this particular scene in the game is from the climax, we won’t spoil too much of what is going on if you haven’t played 3D yet, but do try it out when 2.8 comes to the PS4.
The final screenshot is also from 2.8, but now specifically from Kingdom Hearts 0.2 Birth by Sleep: A Fragmentary Passage, a special “episode” that will act as a prologue to KH3, and will feature Aqua as a playable character.
In this screenshot, we see Riku, Kairi, and Mickey in the Mysterious Tower presumably listening to Master Sid Yen, the Exposition Wizard of Kingdom Hearts since 2005.
Presumably, he is preparing Riku and Kairi for the upcoming final battle against Xehanort in KH3, as well as finally talking about Terra, Ven, and Aqua.
This is the first time we’ve seen the HD models of these characters, and man, they look good.
Kingdom Hearts 3 is <still> in development for PS4 and Xbox One, and no release date has been announced.
HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue will hopefully release sometime next year for the PS4.
