Crimson Peak, starring Mia Wasikowska, Tom Hiddleston, and Jessica Chastain, is somewhere between a horror film and a love story.

[toggler title=”TL;DR” ]In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Guillermo Del Toro talks about how his newest horror film is not your typical haunted house movie. Instead the creepy and Victorian home “is a rotting representation of the family that has inhabited it…the house basically is a sinister, sinister trap.”[/toggler]

[dropcap size=small]G[/dropcap]uillermo Del Toro’s latest film will be unlike any other film he has directed in the past. The film, called Crimson Peak, is a combination of horror and romance about a marriage that turns out to be as far from picture perfect as can be. The film’s setting takes place in creepy, old house that, “is a rotting representation of the family that has inhabited it…the house basically is a sinister, sinister trap. Take a look at the posters below.

“[Usually] the marriage is sort of the climax or the high point of a story,” Guillermo del Toro explained in his interview with Entertainment Weekly. “I tried on ‘Crimson’ to say that the horror starts after the marriage. This girl wakes up in a strange place, not her own home, not her own bed, and she little by little realizes that she knows less about the man she married than one would expect. The curious thing is the love story really starts when they acknowledge that darkness.”

What ever that darkness actually is and how it involves Jessica Chastain, Tom Hiddleston, Mia Wasikowska is not known at this time. But judging from the posters, this film will be full of thrills, scares and will have the audience sitting on the edge of their seat.

Crimson Peak will hit theaters October 16th, 2015.
