Channing Tatum receives training from a magician for his role as Gambit!
[dropcap size=small]T[/dropcap] here are a lot of movies where actors and actresses get training for specific roles in movies they are starring in. Channing Tatum has received training from a magician to prepare him to play Gambit. Tatum’s writing-producing partner Reid Carolin confirmed that Tatum reached out for help from a magician for help on his role in an interview with Screen Rant.
“Last night, we were with my friend who I went to college with — this guy David Kwong, who is an incredible magician — and he was teaching Chan how to throw cards and do sleight of hand,” Carolin recalled.
Despite Tatum’s progress, Carolin doesn’t think that he has Gambit’s Cajun accent ready. But Carolin was impressed with the script.
“The script is really good,” Carolin added. “To be honest, I don’t watch big movies for pleasure a lot, but this script convinced me that we should be making this movie.”
Tatum has played in a lot of roles, but playing as a superhero will be his first (sorry, but I’m not counting when he played Superman in The Lego Movie). Before Gambit comes out, Tatum will star as Gambit in X-Men: Apocalypse, which will be released on May 27, 2016.
Production for the Gambit movie, led by director Rupert Wyatt, is expected to start in the fall in New Orleans. Gambit is slated to be released on October 7th, 2016.
