Bob Gale and a team of writers are in the works to produce a prequel comic book series for the time traveling trilogy, Back to the Future.

A writing team composed of Bob Gale, John Barber, and Erik Burnham have been confirmed to be working on a prequel comic book series for Back to the Future. Gale is said to begin with Barber and Burnham as the main writers and then begin rotating different artists for the comic books throughout the release of the different tales to be told.

The comic book series will answer a number of questions about the series including how Doc and Marty actually met as well as include information on Doc’s work with a group of scientists during World War II. The critically acclaimed movie series hit the theatres in 1985 and has since been the most successful of time traveling movies with 2 sequels following the first film.

Gale claimed a lot of his inspiration for the prequel series had come from other comic books like Superman and Spiderman that had “in-between” stories that talked about different events that had happened behind the scenes. Gale also admitted he was a bit afraid since he is dealing with very developed characters like Marty McFly and Doc, but since he is very educated on the set of characters, he seems confident in his ability to produce a successful comic book series. The first two issues are said to have already been written. We can expect the first issue’s release in October 2015.
