The PlayStation Plus PS4 games for March 2018 have been revealed, and they are big. Bloodborne and Ratchet and Clank will be available to download for free this month if you have a PS Plus subscription.
Bloodborne, released 2015, is a gothic RPG by From Software, the studio best known for developing the Dark Souls series. Moody, bloody, and hard as hell, you’re going to die a lot, but you’re going to have a blast doing so.
Ratchet and Clank, a 2016 release, is a reimagining of the classic PS2 original weapon-based platformer from Insomniac Games. Based partly on the movie that coincided with its release (skip that), this a gorgeous and extremely fun adventure for new and old fans of the series.
We usually don’t report on every PS Plus game lineup, but March’s PS4 games is one of the best rosters in recent memory, if not the best. I love Ratchet and Clank to death, and I can’t wait to give Bloodborne another shot.
The PS3 and PS Vita games offered in March, however, aren’t as exciting. They are as follows:
- Legend of Kay, PS3
- Mighty No. 9, PS3 (Cross Buy with PS4) (skip that)
- Claire: Extended Cut, PS Vita (Cross Buy with PS4)
- Bombing Busters, PS Vita (Cross Buy with PS4)
Yeah…not too exciting for PS3 and Vita fans.
All six of these games (PS4 titles included) will be available to download off the PlayStation Store on Tuesday, March 6.
But wait there’s more! Sony also announced that on March 8, 2019 PS Plus will no longer offer free PS3 and PS Vita games. It was later confirmed (via Polygon) that PS Plus subscribers will still get their two free PS4 games…and that’s it.
I love my PS3 and I love my Vita, but this makes sense…for the most part. Both of those consoles are no longer what Sony is focusing on, and new games available for these older platforms are dwindling. BUT only two games?!? That’s one-third of what was normally offered since the PS4 launched.
Perhaps this means Sony will begin to focus on giving away two prestige PS4 games every month, similar to March’s lineup. OR this could mean new things are on the horizon, like a new console (PS5). We’re still a year off though, so we’ll have to wait and see.
