Bill and Ted get set to perform their best air guitar moves in the UK.
[dropcap size=small]I[/dropcap]ts been almost three decades since we first met with Bill and Ted on their Excellent Adventure – with the second Bogus Journey following on a few years later – but since then we haven’t seen hide nor hair of the bumbling pair.
Well, it seems their last journey wasn’t so bogus, since its been confirmed that the time-travelling teen duo are set to make a considerably older return in the planned Bill and Ted 3 sequel. Excellent!
According to recent reports, a source told The Sun that Bill and Ted’s comeback will be set in UK, with a very ‘British feel.’ It has even been suggested that Bill and Ted may time-travel through London and encounter some British historical figures, such as Winston Churchill and Queen Victoria.
They’ll time-travel through London and meet historical figures, meaning the Queen and Winston Churchill could get cameos…The producers think fans have been waiting long enough now for another sequel. British fans especially are going to love it.
This hasn’t been entirely confirmed yet, but the time-travelling bent of the film gives them a lot to play around with.
The only thing we know about the plot at this stage is the rumour that Bill and Ted are supposedly set to use time-travel to stop themselves from making the very same movie they’re in. Sounds very meta, doesn’t it?
Of course, the film wouldn’t get anywhere without having either Bill or Ted, so thankfully both Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter are to reprise their classic titular roles. Chris Matheson and Ed Solomon, the original writers of the first two films, are also on board.
Winter recently spoke about his return as Bill in an interview with Forbes, in which revealed the sequel has been a project in the making for almost six years. It’s only now the team feel the long-awaited comeback is ready to begin filming:
We’ve been working on it for, like, six years. We’re knee deep in the script, it’s been written by Chris Matheson and Ed Solomon who wrote the first two, they are fantastic writers, and the script is great. We have a script, we have a director, we have a studio – we’re just trying to nail down a start date.
From the sounds of it, no one’s going into this project halfheartedly. With all the original key players of the past instalments involved with the revival, we have every hope Bill and Ted’s 3rd adventure will be a treat for fans of the dazedly delightful time-travelling duo.
No release date has been announced, but reports suggest filming will begin sometime next year.
