Two Batmans in one movie? Probably not, but one can dream!
[dropcap size=small]O[/dropcap]f all of the actors that have played the role of Batman, the actor that is well-known to most people would be Adam West, who starred in the TV show back in the 60s. With the announcement of Ben Affleck directing (and starring) in a solo Batman movie, could West make a return as The Dark Knight?
In an interview with Comicbook.com, West’s response to becoming Batman again: “Never, never, never, never.” But that didn’t stop West from following that up with this response on if he would like to be cast in Affleck’s Batman movie:
“Absolutely, you know what I’d love to do? Those guys are all wonderful talents in their own ways, and they approach the role differently, but if I could approach it in a darker way, of course, in a more serious way, however, it would be wonderful to play Bruce Wayne’s father coming back. You know he was murdered, but coming back one dark and stormy lightning-riven night through a library window. Bruce Wayne is there thinking, ‘I’ll never solve this. This is the most difficult thing in my life.’ In comes old dad, like a bat, almost.”
Cameos have played mostly a fun-like role in movies, especially with Marvel absolutely nailing it with all of Stan Lee’s cameos. DC doesn’t have much of a history for using cameos, so maybe a change in pace is in order. Fans who watched the Batman TV show would truly get a kick out of this. West’s idea for his cameo isn’t really that farfetched either, considering the role that he pitched.
Adam West’s latest role will be returning as Batman in the animated film Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders, which was announced by Warner Brothers Animation and DC Entertainment at New York Comic Con earlier this month. Return of the Caped Crusaders will be available on November 1 for Blu-Ray and DVD or buy the digital copy now.
