Count Olaf’s disguises are everything you would think they would be…or are they?

2018 is finally here and we already have a gift from Netflix: the release date for Season 2 of A Series of Unfortunate Events. Check out the trailer below!

Entertainment Weekly also released teaser photos of Season 2, featuring Count Olaf’s newest ally and plenty of new costumes by Count Olaf!

The second season will cover books 5 through 9 of Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events. The second season is said to be more complex than the first season.

“Now that we’re in season 2 — and I think the same is true with the books — now the Baudelaires can start to take some control and try and take more action,” says Neil Patrick Harris, who returns as Count Olaf, the villainous man who is after the Baudelaires’ fortune. “I think season 2 ends up being a little bigger in its scope and scale, but also allows for a little bit of a more fevered heartbeat from our protagonists.”

But Harris didn’t stop there. As the Baudelaires put more control in their hands, Count Olaf antics may be taking a toll on more than just the children.

Over the course of the season, Olaf’s villainy will start to take a toll on his mind. “Olaf is becoming more and more overtly unhinged, and the road that he is on is veering in all sorts of maddening directions,” says Harris.

If you’re wondering who the woman by Count Olaf is, that is Esme Squalor (played by Lucy Punch), who will make her debut in episode 2. She is a former professional stage actress that Count Olaf will make his girlfriend. So another ally for Count Olaf will make the Baudelaires’ lives as miserable as can be.

Season 2 of A Series of Unfortunate Events is set to be released to Netflix on March 30th!
