After a long decision process, it looks like the Marvel Cinematic Universe has its wall-crawler.

[dropcap size=small]A[/dropcap]fter being the supposed front-runner for the role of Spider-Man/Peter Parker, it is being reported that Asa Butterfield is in final talks (or has already landed) the role. Neither Marvel nor Sony have officially come out with confirmation but many sources including El Mayimbe and Latino Review have said that Butterfield is either confirmed to be Spider-Man or in final talks to do so. Butterfield was the front-runner on a shortlist which included Nat Wolff, Tom Holland, Timothee Chalamet and Liam James.

Asa Butterfield has jumped into the spotlight in the past five years, starring movies like Hugo, Ender’s Game, and X+Y. Being Spider-Man will undoubtably be the biggest role yet for the 18-year-old. His age perfect fit for Marvel to tell the story of Peter Parker as a high school student, a portion of his life that has not yet been seen in-depth on film.

Butterfield would be set to appear in Captain America: Civil War next May before receiving a standalone film that is slated for release July 28th, 2017.
