[dropcap size=small]G[/dropcap]reen Arrow definitely has his work cut out for him in season three of the CW’s Arrow. Not only will the DC Comics superhero have to face off against Ra’s al Ghul this season, Variety exclusively announced that British actor Vinnie Jones will portray renowned villain Danny “Brick” Brickwell.
This marks the first time that Brick has made a live-action appearance, although the character has previously shown up in the DC/Warner Bros. animated series Young Justice. The villain’s name comes from his superhuman impenetrable skin that leaves him impervious to bullets (and arrows), which is a power that certainly comes in handy for a crime lord in Star City.
It was hinted at earlier in the series that Brickwell would possibly make an appearance as his name showed up on Green Arrow’s list of potential targets. Brick is scheduled to appear in episodes 10, 11, and 12 of Arrow’s current season, so we will have a chance to see Jones’s portrayal of the villain in just a few short months.
Jones, who is a former professional footballer in England, had his film debut in the iconic heist film Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels followed by Snatch, both of which were directed by Guy Ritchie. This is not Jones’s first foray into playing a comic book character as he previously appeared in X-Men: The Last Stand as Cain Marko, aka Juggernaut, who served as part of Magneto’s Brotherhood Alliance.
Do you think Jones will make a good Brick? Let us know!
Arrow airs Wednesday nights at 8/7c on The CW.
