[dropcap size=small]N[/dropcap]etflix is expanding its library of original content with four new films starring Adam Sandler. The company announced that a deal has been signed for Sandler to produce and star in four films that will premiere exclusively on Netflix’s streaming service. Sandler’s production company, Happy Madison Productions, will work alongside Netflix to produce the four films for an unspecified amount.

Netflix specifically eyed Sandler for this type of deal as a result of his astounding popularity. According to the companies’ press release:

[dropcap size=small][/dropcap]He is among the few actors in the world whose films consistently rank among the most viewed by Netflix members in the U.S. and across its global territories from Brazil to the U.K.”

Despite frequent abuse from critics in what you might call a recent “creative slump,” Sandler’s films continue to bring in audiences. His films have grossed over $3 billion worldwide.

Adam Sandler issued the following statement about the deal:

[dropcap size=small][/dropcap]When these fine people came to me with an offer to make four movies for them, I immediately said yes for one reason and one reason only… Netflix rhymes with Wet Chicks. Let the streaming begin!!!!”

Reports say that the first of the four films could be streaming as early as next year.

This new deal is the latest step by Netflix to add more original content to its service. It was recently announced that Netflix had entered a partnership with Harvey Weinstein for a new original film, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: The Green Legend, which will debut on Netflix and in IMAX theaters simultaneously.
