According to Cinelinx, an animated series inspired by Lucafilm’s Star Wars: The High Republic is now in development. Originally planned to be just a publishing initiative, the project has evolved into a multimedia project with the animated series just one part of other major projects centered around The High Republic comic series.
Lucasfilm’s Publishing Creative Director Michael Siglain had this to say about the comic series:
“Star Wars: The High Republic features the Jedi as we’ve always wanted to see them — as true guardians of peace and justice. This is a hopeful, optimistic time, when the Jedi and the Galactic Republic are at their height. But of course, into this glorious new era something wicked this way comes. This initiative will give readers young and old a new corner of the galaxy to explore through rich, meaningful stories. Plus, readers will learn what scares the Jedi.”
The High Republic takes place 200 years before the events within the famous Skywalker saga take place during the golden age of the Republic. The comic series is a collaborative project between Disney-Lucasfilm Press and Marvel Comics.
No other details about the rumored animated series is known at this time.
