[dropcap size=small]L[/dropcap]ast week during an interview on Conan, Martin Lawrence revealed that a third Bad Boys movie is in its beginning stages.
“I just talked to Jerry [Bruckheimer] yesterday, and he said it’s real. They’re working on a script, they’re getting close, and it all looks good.”
Here’s the full interview, the Bad Boys 3 talk starts at around the 3:15 mark:
This isn’t the first time word of a potential Bad Boys 3 has made its way into the media. Back in 2008, actor Will Smith and franchise director Michael Bay spoke openly during an interview before the MTV Movie Awards about how much they would love to do it, but with the complications involving how much the actors and the director would cost, it didn’t look promising.
Back in April, producer Jerry Bruckheimer told Collider that the other major difficulties with getting the third film made were Smith’s availability and Sony being a bunch of flip-floppers. Bruckheimer did have some good news however, mentioning that with the success of Ride Along, Sony is more enthusiastic about making Bad Boys 3 than they ever have been in the past.
With the franchise already having earned over half a billion dollars worldwide, I can’t see why Sony wouldn’t want to get another sequel going. The world needs more Mike and Marcus.
We ride together, we die together, bad boys for life.
Or at least for one more movie.
