There hasn’t been much news surrounding Disney+’s Cassian Andor series for quite a while now. First announced back in November 2018 Disney spent a lot of time searching for cast members and a director. After a year had past production was to begin on the series in 2020 but was delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic. Luckily, it seems that is no longer the case!
Diego Luna, who plays the role of Cassian Andor in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live where he confirmed he’s currently in London to begin working on the Rogue One spinoff.
Diego Luna didn’t release too many details regarding the spinoff series, confirming the show’s timeline will explain “everything you have to know to understand Rogue One.” The show, which has yet to be given an official title, follows Rebel spy Cassian Andor and his droid K-2SO during the beginning of the Rebellion and prior to the events which take place in Rogue One. The series, which is described as a spy thriller, will “explore tales filled with espionage and daring missions to restore hope to a galaxy in the grip of a ruthless Empire.”
Toby Haynes (Black Mirror) will direct the series and Stephen Schiff (producer for The Americans) will serve as the showrunner. There is no official release date at this time.
