Film distribution company Lionsgate is suing several torrenting websites for sharing a copy of the yet-to-be-released The Expendables 3, the next chapter of everyone’s favorite mercenaries that includes Sylvester Stallone, Jason Stratham, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and almost every other action hero your dad grew up watching.
The film, slated to hit theaters in the United States on August 15th, has been downloaded over 1 million times, according to sources. Lionsgate is suing “John Doe 1-10”, a group that is comprised of separate torrenting websites such as limetorrents.com and swantshare.com. Operators of the websites received letters from Lionsgate to remove the film from sharing, but did not take any action on the studio’s request.
The Expendables and The Expendables 2 have combined to gross over $579,000,000 worldwide. A fourth Expendables film has already been announced.
