Is Pokémon Stars happening on the Nintendo Switch?
Game Freak, the developer behind every mainline game of the Pokémon series, is apparently working on a brand new game for a brand new console, with many speculating their immensely popular series is coming to the Nintendo Switch.
In a job listing on Indeed Japan, Game Freak appears to be searching for game developers capable of creating character models on platforms similar to the “Wii U and PlayStation Vita” for a new game in an “RPG series” which is “popular on a global scale.”
Yep, this really sounds like Game Freak is making a Pokémon game (an RPG series that is popular on a global scale) on the Nintendo Switch (a system portable like the Vita, and similar to the Wii U in power and design).
There have been rumors for months now that a follow-up to the 3DS games Pokémon Sun and Moon, the latest entries in the series, is headed to the Switch within the first year of the console’s launch. The rumored name of this game is Pokémon Stars (following the same vein as Yellow, Crystal, Emerald, or Platinum).
We’re huge Pokémon fans here at Geek Outpost, so the possibility of Pocket Monsters on the Switch is extremely hype-inducing, especially since Sun and Moon were so great. A new version of those games with beefer graphics and more features would be incredible, so time will tell if this new game is really Stars, or something totally brand new.
