30 Years of The Legend of Zelda.
[dropcap size=small]T[/dropcap]he iconic videogame franchise is celebrating its impressive 3oth year, and during a Nintendo 3DS-focused livestream, it was also announced the popular Skyward Sword is now available for download on Wii U.
In the complicated fictional history of the franchise, Skyward Sword tells a sprawling and fantastical story set at the very beginning of Zelda continuity. Debuting on the original Wii console, the 2011 release was was given perfect scores by some outlets while others giving more tepid responses. However, the majority of critical and fan response was very positive, some of the criticism could have stemmed from franchise fatigue, something that is possible for even this genre-defining series.
Not to be mistaken for a remaster, nor are there any updates, it is the original version that is purchasable via Virtual Console now.
Dark Horse Comics will also be publishing a Zelda series this year, ‘The Legend Of Zelda Game Music Collection’ will be released this month, and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild will be released on Wii U and Nintendo’s new console, the NX, next year. So fans of the longstanding franchise have much to look forward to.
