Don’t worry Skywalker fans, Luke will be sticking around ‘at least til Episode IX’.
[dropcap size=small]W[/dropcap]e already lost Han Solo so there is no reason to believe that any of the characters from the original Star Wars trilogy are safe from losing their hand, stabbed through the chest or taking a moon to the face. In fact, you would be better off expecting at least one major character to die in any of the upcoming Star Wars films. Nonetheless, it appears that Mark Hamill himself has assured fans that he will be sticking around for at least two more movies.

Despite the fact that we all just watched a thirty-second clip of Mark Hamill shaving his impressive beard off, this could just be one elaborate ruse by Mark Hamill to con fans into thinking he will be sticking around for a while. Even though there are plenty of Star Wars novels that have Luke Skywalker living for quite a long time and rebuilding the Jedi order those novels are no longer canon and so we really have no idea what Disney has planned for Luke. Call me a pessimist but if Han wasn’t safe, no one is.
Star Wars: Episode 8 hits theaters December 15th, 2017.
