The Dark Knight’s new greatest foe: Microsoft Windows.
Batman and PCs just don’t get along. After a rocky PC port of Batman: Arkham Knight, the Caped Crusader’s latest game also isn’t performing too well for members of Steam.
Since it launched yesterday, many players on the Steam forums have reported numerous issues plaguing the PC version of Batman: The Telltale Series. These performance problems range from extremely low frame rates, wonky resolutions, laggy controls, and random crashing.
In a review, one Steam member wrote:
“Game is 100% broken as of launch. You could have a PC built by Jesus Christ himself and this game still will run at 10fps, a floaty cursor, and be completely unplayable at the LOWEST settings.”
“Dialogue is out of sync, lagging like hell, not more that 10 FPS, Resolution problems. In short don’t buy it. At least wait for a fix.”
“I run better than this game and Im fat.”
Despite many reports of poor performance, some PC players aren’t seeing any issues at all. Many critics who reviewed the game on PC, including Polygon, did not run into any notable issues detailed in the Steam reviews.
For players who are encountering issues, some workarounds have been found. Many Steam members have found that changing the game’s resolution (read more about that here) can help improve the game’s stalling frame rates.
Additionally, a notice on the game’s Steam page advises players to “update the graphics card drivers to the latest available,” and “if you are using a laptop, please use your dedicated graphics and not intel integrated graphics.”
As the game has only been out for a short period of time, we’re sure Telltale and Steam are working hard to patch the game and ensure a smooth experience for all PC players.
Till then, it might be best to wait it out, or play Batman: The Telltale Series on another platform.
