The search for the perfect actor to portray Cable goes on.
[dropcap size=small]A[/dropcap]s we all know by now the likelihood of Cable appearing in Deadpool 2 is 99.9999% certain, but what we don’t know is who will be chosen for the role. Multiple actors, from Ron Perlman (Sons of Anarchy, Hellboy) to Rolph Lundgren (Rocky IV, The Expendables), have expressed their interest in the role of Cable and all of these actors could fit the role fairly well. Unfortunately, it appears that the chances of Stephen Lang taking on the role of Cable are fairly low due to his character Colonel Miles Quaritch supposedly appearing in the next four Avatar films.
In my own opinion, Stephen Lang would be the best choice for the role of Cable. He is younger looking than both Ron Perlman and Dolph Lundgren, and he is in great physical shape for the role. Plus, unlike Dolph Lundgren he doesn’t have a Swedish accent. However, Stephen Lang himself seems to believe that his chances of portraying Cable in Deadpool 2 are low. In a recent interview with CinemaBlend Stephen Lang explained the reasoning behind his doubt.
“I think it’s highly unlikely that they would ever give me the part, for a number of reasons, one of which being that it’s the same studio as Avatar. It’s a conceivable it would be a scheduling conflict, but you know, what I’ve said is that if they did give me the part, they’d be very satisfied – because I’ll play the hell out of the part. But if they don’t give me the part, then I can be magnanimous in defeat, compliment the actor who does get the part, and console myself with four sequels to Avatar.”
Unfortunate as this news may be, it is possible that Twentieth Century Fox has someone else in mind for the role Cable that none of us have thought of. Or it is possible that there could a new Hollywood actor that could portray Cable perfectly. Regardless of what Twentieth Century Fox decides to do we can be sure that Deadpool 2 will be amazing.
Deadpool 2 is expected to be released sometime in 2017.
