The latest entry in the Kingdom Hearts franchise, and the first mobile game of the series, has finally arrived in North America. Kingdom Hearts Unchained χ is now available to download.
Unchained χ, is a port of the Japanese-exclusive browser game Kingdom Hearts χ (pronounced ‘key’). The game takes place long before the events of the first game, and puts the player in the shoes of a customizable Keyblade wielding avatar, who must choose one of five factions, all fighting for control of the remaining Light.
The player travels to numerous Disney worlds, like Wonderland or Beast’s Castle, and fights Heartless using a turn-based combat system similar to Chain of Memories.
The game will updated with new story missions featuring additional worlds, as well as additional Disney themed costumes available through microtransactions.
Message from KH creator Tetsuya Nomura: “I hope fans and newcomers alike will find themselves absorbed in this brand new adventure that reveals the origins of KINGDOM HEARTS.”
Apparently, the game will tie in with Kingdom Hearts 3, as well as the three separate titles featured in HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue. How exactly remains to be seen, but knowing KH, it’s probably through some complicated means.
